Juncos Hollinger Racing returns to the Streets of Long Beach for Round 5
Juncos Hollinger Racing heads to the Streets of Long Beach for Round 5 of the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, as the championship returns to one of its most iconic events and a cornerstone of the street course calendar.
The season began at a fast pace, with St. Peterburg, Phoenix and Arlington coming in quick succession following the opening round in early March. After a short break in the schedule, the team returns to competition looking to build on encouraging performance shown across the opening races.
The performance at Barber further reinforced that trajectory, with Rinus VeeKay’s recovery drive highlighting the strength of the No. 76 package across a race distance, while continued improvements in execution have helped maximize opportunities across each weekend.
The 1.968-mile, 11-turn temporary street circuit encircles the Long Beach Convention Center and runs along Shoreline Drive. The layout offers several overtaking opportunities, most notably into Turn 1, while a strong exit from the final hairpin onto the front straight is critical for lap time and race positioning across the 90-lap race.
Long Beach represents a key opportunity to convert that pace into results, particularly on a circuit where track position and execution across the weekend are critical to securing a strong finish.
One area of strength early in the season has been pit lane performance, with the team consistently among the fastest in the field, supporting race strategy and helping both cars remain in contention across varying race scenarios.
Rinus arrives with a strong record on street circuits, having consistently demonstrated race pace and overtaking ability across a range of layouts, while Sting Ray Robb continues to build as the season progresses.
How the Weekend Unfolds
Track action begins on Friday with opening practice, followed by a second session on Saturday. The 90-lap race takes place on Sunday on the narrow and unforgiving street circuit.
With track position expected to play a decisive role, the focus will be on maximizing performance across all sessions to ensure both cars are well placed heading into race day.
Team Perspective
Rinus VeeKay, No. 76:
“Long Beach is one of the marquee events on the calendar and a track every driver looks forward to. It’s very technical for a street circuit, so getting into a rhythm and being precise is key. We’ve shown good pace to start the season, and this is a great opportunity to put everything together and fight closer to the front.”
Sting Ray Robb, No. 77:
“Long Beach is such an iconic race, and it always brings a high level of intensity. It’s a street circuit where track position really matters, so qualifying and execution will be critical. I had a strong run here last year with a P9, so I’m excited to build on that and see how we can carry our momentum into an even better result this weekend.”
Dave O’Neill, Team Principal, Juncos Hollinger Racing:
“Long Beach is one of the most challenging events on the calendar, and it’s always a great test for both drivers and the team. It’s a track where qualifying is crucial, but you also need to be clean and consistent across the race to get the most out of it.
“We’ve seen encouraging pace in recent rounds, particularly in race trim, and the focus now is on putting together a complete weekend. If we can execute well across all sessions, there’s a good opportunity for us to come away with a strong result.”
