JHR heads to Portland for penultimate round of the season
Portland, OregonAugust 30, 2023
Juncos Hollinger Racing’s penultimate NTT INDYCAR battle of 2023 awaits at Portland International Raceway this weekend (September 1-3) when Callum Ilott and Agustín Canapino will take on the Grand Prix of Portland.
Since opening in 1961, Portland’s iconic raceway has welcomed competitors from around the world. Callum and Agustín will be among the latest to drive the 1.9-mile road course, and its 12 corners that provide plenty of overtaking opportunities.
Sunday’s 216-mile Grand Prix distance ranks among the longest NTT INDYCAR road course races this season, as the drivers will face 110 laps of wheel-to-wheel action.
Both JHR drivers are determined to capitalize on the speed they showed at St. Louis last weekend. During an action-packed Sunday, Callum and Agustín showed strong pace in qualifying and the race, before later issues meant their efforts went unrewarded.
This week, the whole team will take inspiration from its ‘Power of Possibility’ mantra as it challenges its rivals once again at round 16.
Portland is a circuit that Callum knows well, and he can support rookie teammate Agustín with knowledge and data from two previous appearances in Oregon. The Briton made his JHR and INDYCAR debut at the circuit in 2021, and finished P9 on his return last year.
“I enjoy racing on the track as there’s quite a few overtaking places. Heading over to the west coast is always a nice trip to finish the season off with.”
Callum Ilott said:
“I’m looking forward to going to Portland; it’s where I did my first race in INDYCAR. We’ve had a decent car there before, so it should be a race where we can make good progress and gain a positive result.

“It will be a long race where anything can happen in the 110-lap distance, so I will try my best to take advantage of each outing and prepare well for Sunday.”

“The team performed well in Portland last year, so I’m feeling really positive about our chances this weekend.
